Project estimated results

  • 100 identified individuals with undiagnosed diabetes or prediabetes in the general population target group

Through its implementation phase activities, the project will screen and identify individuals in the general population target group who were previously unaware of having diabetes or prediabetes (estimated number of 100 individuals). This result will have a direct impact on the public health systems by reducing the burden associated with the treatment of the disease once discovered through the existing resources.

  • 300 identified individuals in the general population target group who are at risk for overweight/obesity/diabetes

Through its implementation phase activities, the project will screen and identify individuals in the general population target group with major risks for overweight/obesity/diabetes (estimated number of 300 individuals). This result will have a direct impact on the public health systems by reducing the burden associated with addressing these risks and diseases once discovered through the existing resources.

  • 50 trained health providers in nutrition counselling and nutrition education

The project will train a minimum of 50 health providers (medical doctors and nurses) in offering improved nutrition counselling and education to their registered patients.

  • 30000 improved nutrition counselling in the general population

Through the training provided in this project, we estimate that the trained health providers will be able to offer more effective nutrition counselling to an estimated number of 30,000 patients during the project implementation phase and beyond

  • 100 increased medical knowledge and skills of faculty, staff and students through involvement in clinical research and international cooperation

By involving the staff, faculty and volunteer students in the project activities, the project will raise their levels of expertise in aspects of nutrition and metabolic health and exposure to international good practices in research settings.
